Fue el S06E04, pero se pareció mucho a los primeros capítulos de la serie, cuando todavía estábamos enamorados de la estructura de esta comedia. Recuerdo lo que decíamos en Espoiler de HIMYM cuando se estrenó, hace ya algunos años "Esta nueva serie de la CBS parece simple. Cuando la ves, te da la impresión de que podrías escribirla. Chistes sin complejos, universales, trama colorida, situaciones reconocibles. Sin embargo, esconde una enorme complejidad de guión. Su simpleza no es el inicio de un esfuerzo, sino el final de una experiencia narrativa." Con el paso de tiempo, y del desgaste, seguí viendo la serie por Barney casi del modo que continúo viendo The Big Bang Theory por Sheldom. Pero su personaje principal, Ted, dejó de resultarme atractivo como eje de narración, y sobre todo, se me desdibujó mucho el gancho de "la madre de los kids", esa mujer a la que quizá no veremos nunca, o sólo al final. El capítulo de la semana pasada, sin embargo, recuperó el vértigo inicial. Una trama desenfadada, bastante riesgosa en el uso del chroma key, pero con la vieja espontaneidad perdida. No me causó alegría sin embargo este regreso a las fuentes, sino más bien la sensación de que la llama de Tu Madre se está apagando ya de manera definitiva. Me resultó como esos chispazos fuertes de las brasas antes de enmudecer. El otro día Carolina Aguirre, escritora argentina, decía en alguna parte que no existe ninguna serie que sobreviva con dignidad a la séptima temporada. Es una teoría de mucho riesgo, pero la dejo aquí como tema de debate. Yo creo que Carolina tiene razón, quizá con la excepción de House que a mí todavía me gusta. Pero How I Met Your Mother debería hacer mutis por el foro al final de esta, su sexta temporada. No debería insistir en el tratamiento de sus cruces y sus dislates. El episodio de esta semana, que me recordó tanto las viejas épocas, podría convertirse en un buen final cinco amigos que corren para llegar primero a alguna parte y que, cuando llegan, olvidan por qué querían estar allí. Con ustedes, vuestra madre Muy buena How I Met Your Mother Como un amigo que madura con el tiempo, que nos gana el corazón a fuerza de costumbe, How I Met Your Mother se instala en nuestro sofá temporada a temporada sin estridencias y con la frescura inicial. No es una serie que echemos de menos cuando acaba no estamos día y noche preguntándonos cuándo volverá como acaso ocurre con Lost pero el día que por fin regresa descubrimos que los miércoles son días mejores si Barney Neil Patrick Harris aparece por detrás de la puerta, o si la hermosísima Robin Cobie Smulders nos regala una de sus sonrisas desganadas. El primer episodio de la cuarta temporada de Tu Madre así apodamos en casa a esta sit-com fue un reencuentro dócil y sereno con los cuatro protagonistas. Los guiones siguen allí como siempre, haciendo diana en el centro mismo del chiste con un enorme control del tiempo. Los flashbacks dinámicos, cortos como un regate de Messi, hacen que todo lo que ocurre nos transporte hacia dos horas antes, veinte minutos después, sin que tal cosa nos confunda. How I Met Your Mother ha regresado con los personajes en posición adelantada nuestro amigo Ted Josh Radnor le ha propuesto matrimonio a una mujer que no ama y que, por supuesto, no será nunca "nuestra madre"; Barney se ha enamorado perdidamente por primera vez en su vida de una mujer, que para mal de males es nuestra canadiense favorita, Robin; y el matrimonio feliz de Marshall y Lili Jason Segel y Alyson Hannigan se ve afectado por el paro laboral y algún resquemor económico. Todo esto no hace más que dar nuevas excusas para que se generen situaciones que siempre resultan divertidas, emocionantes y sencillas, creadas por una dupla muy eficaz Carter Bays y Craig Thomas, desde hace años mis nuevos amigos guionistas. En el episodio tres, por ejemplo, todo gira en torno a una hamburguesa. ¡Nada más que eso! Y logran sacar petróleo de ese pedazo de carne asada. Se nota, sobre todo, una gran soltura de guión. Y los actores resuelven cada temporada con mayor gracia los parlamentos que les tocan. Tu Madre es una de las mejores sit-coms de esta década, sin duda. ESPOILER - 21 de abril, 2008 La excelente comedia How I Met Your Mother Cómo conocí a vuestra madre, en España tuvo su mayor audiencia el día en que apareció —brevemente— Britney Spears. Por supuesto, a sus productores les gustó mucho tener un rating tan alto, sin importar que la incorporación de share proviniera de la llegada masiva del público más imbécil de Norteamérica. Tanto les gustó, que la han vuelto a contratar para nuevos episodios. Si el método cuaja, no deberá sorprendernos, en el futuro, a Lindsay Lohan como nueva empleada de The Office. Me amargan estas noticias. Sobre todo cuando ocurren en torno a series que están muy bien sin ayuda. Por lo pronto, esta semana tenemos un nuevo capítulo de Tu Madre sin Britney habrá que disfrutarlo. También regresa hoy lunes Brothers & Sisters, otra serie que había empezado muy bien y que, desde la segunda temporada, se ha convertido en un culebrón insoportable. Tan radical ha sido el cambio de discurso, que sus principales guionistas han dicho buenas noches. La indicación de la cadena fue menos guerra de Irak, menos política, menos pensamiento lateral, y más besitos. Muchos besitos y problemones del corazón. Y podemos seguir un rato largo con series que cambian de rumbo para conseguir la atención del público descerebrado la presente temporada de Desperate Housewives se parece, cada vez más, a una caricatura idiota de lo que supo ser la serie en sus comienzos. Da la impresión de que la escribieran los hijos del los guionistas originales. Pero por lo que indica el share, el cambio tonto les funciona muy bien. Y no hablemos de Heroes, no. Mejor no hablemos. Y entonces, ¿nosotros qué hacemos ante la lluvia de mediocriodad? Cada vez más, debemos resguardarnos en las cadenas de pago HBO y Showtime, por ejemplo. Sitios en donde la calidad de una obra prevalece todavía por encima de la cantidad de espectadores. Y en la televisión inglesa, por supuesto. Y en las poquitas series usamericanas en abierto que mantienen su respiración original 30 Rock, CSI original, The Office, Lost. Esta semana justamente regresa Lost, que emitirá de un tirón todos los episodios que restan para acabar con la cuarta temporada. De todos modos, rescatamos aquí dos regresos que valen la pena y, al final del artículo, una toma de posición muy importante con respecto a Lost. Aquí vamos. El lunes vuelve mamá Esta semana empiezan otra vez dos comedias que echábamos de menos. A la primera la llamamos cariñosamente "Tu Madre" porque su nombre real es demasiado largo. Se llama How I Met Your Mother y su episodio doce se hizo esperar más de dos meses, por culpa de la huelga pasada. La historia de "Tu Madre" es así en el año 2030, un padre incorpóreo quiero decir que sólo escuchamos su voz comienza a relatarle a sus dos hijos adolescentes ellos sí son corpóreos están en un sofá de qué manera conoció a su esposa, es decir, a la madre de los chicos. Los querubines no tienen muchas ganas de escuchar la batallita porque sospechan, y con razón, que la anécdota no acabará pronto. De hecho, todavía no sabemos, siquiera, quién es la madre de las criaturas. Por tanto, cada capítulo de How I Met Your Mother es un inmenso flashback con pequeños toques de voz en off del padre-narrador. Conforme transcurren los episodios se desdibuja un poco la presencia de los "hijos oyentes", que a veces ni aparecen al inicio, pero la sensación de que estamos recibiendo una anécdota del futuro no se diluye nunca. Y eso le da al guión toques magníficos. El regreso de los gitanos yanquis La segunda comedia que regresa esta semana es The Riches. Se trata de la familia Malloy, un grupo de gitanos yanquis, que viajan por todo el país practicando pequeñas estafas de guante blanco. Se disfrazan, timan, engañan y siguen viaje. Un mal día matan sin querer a los Riches, una pareja de ricos, y asumen su identidad. Desde entonces deben fingir ser millonarios en una barrio privado, Edenfalls. Y la serie cuenta cómo lo logran o no. Su primera temporada resultó muy divertida, con ritmo y dos grandes actuaciones estelares Eddie Izzard y Minnie Driver. Este miércoles 19 de marzo podremos ver el primer episodio de la segunda temporada, y cruzamos los deods para que siga con la misma calidad. En contra de las teorías Y para acabar, este viernes sí ocurrirá el último episodio de Lost antes del receso. Los muy expertos ya están seguramente al tanto de la Gran Teoría Final que circula por Internet, y que explica minuciosamente todos los misterios desde el oso polar de la primera temporada hasta cada detalle de los últimos capítulos. En Espoiler estamos en contra de esta Teoría. No de sus detalles, sino de su existencia misma. No queremos saber nada. No estamos dispuestos a recibir información adicional que no provenga de los episodios mismos. En esta serie las cosas no ocurren desde un punto de tiempo A, hasta un punto de tiempo B. Pasan cosas en medio retrocedemos seis minutos, avanzamos dos semanas, ponemos pausa, presionamos mute... Da la impresión de que el que nos narra el cuento es, más que un hombre, un mando a distancia con corazón. La serie comenzó a emitirse en septiembre de 2005 y su segunda temporada acabó hace un par de meses. Ya hay cuatro docenas de episodios esperando por ti, y la cosa sigue desde septiembre de este año. Por tanto, hablar de las virtudes de How I Met Your Mother sería ocioso las dos temporadas completas están en streaming. Nada más. Ésta es otra recomendación fulminante. Si el lector tiene muchas recomendaciones pendientes, haga el favor de poner ésta por encima de otras. La diversión está garantizada. Y demás está decirlo aunque es más rápido descargar el divx por streaming doblado, se ve todo mucho mejor con subtítulos. ¿Y cómo hago para ver esta serie?
